The Evan E. Worthing Scholarship was established by the will of Evan E. Worthing and has performed this function since 1951. The students who receive the scholarships are selected by the Scholarship Selection Committee. Forty-seven scholarship recipients will be awarded $2,000 for the 2022-2023 school year. Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be an HISD high school senior
- A minimum GPA of 3.25 (weighted) is required
- Complete an essay no more than 250 words on proposed topics.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from school official.
- Submit an official transcript including score report for either SAT or ACT.
- Complete all graduation requirements by May 31, 2023.
- Attend the Worthing Scholarship Presentation and Reception.
- Select candidates will be required to attend a Summer Institute Workshop (June 5th -June 9th).
DEADLINE:
The completed application with all required documents must be delivered by a high school official to Mickey Leland College Preparatory Academy no later 4:00 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2023 at 4:00 P.M.
Application will NOT be accepted after the designated date and time.
